The flag was first adopted in 1819 as Gran Colombia‘s flag
and later on officially adopted on 1835 as Ecuador's flag. It has three
horizontal stripes of blue, Yellow (wide stripe when compared to the other two
colors), and red.
Blue represents the color of the sea and ocean, Red represents
the blood shed by the soldiers during the time of independence and finally yellow represents the country’s gold
deposits, harvest, and fertility of their land.
